The operation of the energy storage power station requires a stable temperature. If the temperature is too high or too low, it will affect the operation efficiency and service life of the energy storage power station. Especially in the case of too high temperature, it may also cause the fire and explosion of the battery cell, which poses a threat to the safety of the energy storage power station.


"From the battery point of view, to solve the safety problem is nothing more than two paths, one is the so-called all-solid-state battery, but it may not be able to promote the application for at least five years, or its cost performance does not have scalability, scalability, practicality." Another way is to make up for the shortcomings of existing lithium iron phosphate battery technology. Based on this, we will 4S+C full stack self-research, including BMS/EMS/PCS/TMS+Cloud as the next response to the increasing demand for energy storage scenarios." It is understood that at present, for the thermal management of energy storage systems, the industry has launched a variety of solutions. At present, in the market, there are two main solutions for thermal management of energy storage systems, one is liquid cooling and the other is air cooling. But both of these schemes have advantages and disadvantages.


Liquid cooling has a higher specific heat capacity and higher thermal conductivity than air, and the cooling speed is faster, which has a significant effect on reducing the local temperature and improving the temperature consistency of the battery module. Because it can significantly improve the overall safety and economy of the energy storage battery system, and ensure the user's experience and benefits, it has been widely recognized. However, this liquid cooling plate technology has the problem of uneven heat dissipation and condensate water, which will bring the risk of electrical leakage and rust corrosion of sheet metal parts for a long time, affecting the stability of the system.


In the submerged liquid-cooled energy storage system, the energy storage core is directly immersed in the coolant, and the battery core is completely isolated from air and water, so as to completely eliminate the possibility of battery combustion and explosion. Effectively control the operating temperature of the energy storage battery system to achieve rapid, adequate and uniform cooling and cooling of the battery to ensure long-term stable operation of the battery.


In the view of Zhang Weifeng, chairman of Gaotai Haoneng, the submersible liquid cooling system should be one of the most safe energy storage thermal management methods known at present.


North Star energy storage network learned that based on the characteristics of the submerged liquid cooling system, Qualtech launched a series of submerged liquid cooling industrial and commercial storage/large storage solutions integrating refrigeration and heating, intelligent control and fire safety.


The scheme adopts physical isolation combined with digital intelligent monitoring to ensure safe and efficient operation. The immersion temperature control system is coupled with the BMS management system, which can achieve accurate temperature control and intelligent adjustment, effectively improve the consistency of the operating temperature, so that the battery temperature difference is less than 2 ° C, thereby extending the available capacity and cycle life of the battery, and reducing the operating cost of the energy storage system. In addition, the system supports higher rate (> 1C) charge and discharge requirements.


Zhang Weifeng said that this system uses a semi-closed design, Pack design requirements are reduced, greatly reducing production costs, and the price of cold plate liquid cooling products is basically the same. In terms of design, the product uses the top liquid inlet, the flow strengthens the convection heat dissipation, the liquid consumption is reduced by 80%, and the cost is better than similar products.


Zhang Weifeng further introduced that the submerged liquid cooling system eliminates the heat dissipation system and fire protection system, the integration is greatly improved, the equipment volume is reduced, and it can be widely used in scenarios with high security requirements. At the same time, it can be deployed in harsh environments such as ultra-cold, high temperature, high altitude, and high wind and sand.


At the same time, Zhang Weifeng also revealed to the North Star energy storage network that the cooling medium production process of the product is very mature, and the mass production cost of its products is also relatively low, which can fully meet the market needs. At present, this series of products will complete third-party certification this month, and will soon enter the mass production delivery stage in June this year.


In addition to the technical level of products, Qualtech has also upgraded from the system level. It is reported that based on the continuous research and development of the "4S+C full-stack self-research" full-stack closed-loop of the core link of the company's energy storage system in the previous stage, Qualtech through joint research and development with the Tsinghua team, the integration of artificial intelligence technology and the original system-level products can be applied, and the historical data can be analyzed by LSTM/Transformer to predict the risk of thermal loss.
